'The Woman in Green' for Friday films
Thomaston — Friends of the Thomaston Public Library presents its Friday Night Film Series with screenings Fridays at 6:30 p.m. at the Thomaston Public Library in the Thomaston Academy Building, 60 Main St./Route 1.
Continuing May's showcase of Sherlock Holmes, the May 11 film will be "The Woman in Green," an 68-minute film from 1945. Four women are killed and found without their right forefingers, causing Scotland Yard to recruit sleuth Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone) to solve the mysterious case. Holmes tracks the murders to a group of hypnotists and a puzzling but stunning woman named Lydia Marlow, (Hillary Brooke). Pretty soon, Holmes uncovers a tangle of hypnosis and lies devised by his nemesis, the malevolent Professor Moriarty (Henry Daniell).
Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. The Thomaston Academy Building is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance and light refreshments will be served. For more information, call the library at 354-2453.
