Right now there are two incentives available to Maine homeowners and businesses.

In addition to a 30% federal tax credit, residential solar energy systems
are eligible for:
★ An Efficiency Maine rebate of up to $2,000 for solar hot water systems
★ An Efficiency Maine rebate of up to $2,000 for grid-tied solar electric systems
★ An Efficiency Maine rebate of up to $4,000 for commercial systems

So how does the Efficiency Maine rebate work?

Step 1: Receive a rebate application
The initial application (titled Renewable Rebate Reservation Form) is just one page – we complete the technical parts, you fill in your contact information and then sign and date. We’ll highlight those lines in yellow.

Step 2: Send it in!
We’ll also send you an envelope so you can forward the application to Efficiency Maine for processing. If you are doing both a solar hot water and solar electric project, you will file for each rebate separately.

Step 3: Receive confirmation via mail that your rebate application has been accepted.
Within a few weeks, you should have a reply from Efficiency Maine letting you know that your application has been processed and accepted. This means rebate money has been allocated for your project. If you decide to go through with a project(s), your rebate will be waiting for you; if you decide not to install solar at this point in time, the rebate will lapse and the money goes back into the pool of funds. Rebates are valid for 120 days and can be extended (with permission from Efficiency Maine).

Step 4: File for payment.
After your solar project has been completed, there will be a second form to sign called the Rebate Claim Form. ReVision will send this to you along with the final invoice for your project. Simply complete the lines highlighted in yellow and return it to ReVision so we can add our signatures as well. We then send it in for processing and make copies for your files and ours (we’ll send you a copy via mail). In about 4-6 weeks, you’ll have your rebate check!
