The Ripple Effect

Photo by: Richard McKusic Sr. It's up to you what kind of a ripple comes out of your life. :)

No, no, no! I'm not talking about the Ripple that came in a jug; it's the one that occurs when you toss a pebble in the water. Yesterday morning some of us were privileged to have breakfast with Kate Braestrup. There were a number of different churches represented; three different ones prepared the meal. The reason for getting together is to get to know each other better and build a sense of community that transcends our differences. It is FUN and encouraging as we find out what is going on in different congregations. It is the Ripple Effect.

Kate's story was a prime example. As most of you know, her husband was a state trooper who was tragically killed in a traffic accident. Shortly after it happened a knock came to her door and a neighbor was there with a steaming pan of brownies with tears running down her cheek; offering her condolences and prayers. This happened over and over again in the coming days and led Kate to pass on God's gift to others by becoming Chaplain of the Maine Forest Service. The Ripple Effect.

Now, we all make ripples; either they build people up or have a negative effect. Have found it much more fun to leave people with a smile than a frown.

Ripple--The Grateful Dead

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung,
Would you hear my voice come thru the music,
Would you hold it near as it were your own?

It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken,
Perhaps they're better left unsung.
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air.

Ripple in still water,
When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.

Reach out your hand if your cup be empty,
If your cup is full may it be again,
Let it be known there is a fountain,
That was not made by the hands of men.

There is a road, no simple highway,
Between the dawn and the dark of night,
And if you go no one may follow,
That path is for your steps alone.

Ripple in still water,
When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.

You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall you fall alone,
If you should stand then whos to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home.

La dee da da da, la da da da da, da da da, da da, da da da da da
La da da da, la da da, da da, la da da da, la da, da da.
