The RIG receives Wal-Mart grant
Rockport — The Penobscot Bay YMCA assumed operations of the RIG Oct. 1, maintaining the same staff, schedule and activities that are currently in place, for local high school students.
The RIG has moved from its Elm Street location to the Y’s Teen Center facility, which is located at 10 Knowlton St. in Camden.
Walmart awarded a $1,000 grant to the RIG at the store’s grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony Oct. 16 in Thomaston.
“We are grateful for this generous gift which will allow us to expand our programming efforts,” said Nicole Fuller, director of The RIG.
The RIG is a community oriented, safe meeting place for young adults in grades 9 through 12. Providing an abundance of opportunities for youth to develop and pursue their ideas, to realize their potential, and to build friendships while learning leadership and team building skills.
Donations and community support are crucial to the overall success and sustainability of the RIG programming. For more information stop by at 116 Union St. Rockport, call 236.3375 or visit penbayymca.org.
