The public is invited to a reception and opening of a new exhibit at Maine Lighthouse Museum showcasing the Maine Windjammer Fleet. You will get to meet the Captains and Crew of over a dozen windjammers home-ported in the midcoast area. Many of them were built in the 1800's.  Historically windjammers were work boats used to transport cargo but when the cargo business dropped off the income from human cargo, including tourists and locals allowed for the continued maintenance and upkeep of the vessels. The reception will be on Wednesday, May 14th from 7-9 pm and the exhibit will run through the month of September.

For more information you may call the museum at 594-3301, check our website at www.mainelighthousemuseum.org or like us on Facebook.
