Since 1905, the Maine Seacoast Mission has provided medical, emotional, and spiritual care to the inhabitants of remote and isolated island communities off the coast of Maine. Today, the Mission continues this tradition of service via the MV Sunbeam V, a 75-foot steel hulled boat equipped with state-of-the-art telemedicine technology and ice breaking capacities.
Sharon Daley, and Douglas Cornman are two members of the five-person crew that cruise year-round from the Cranberry Isles in Frenchman's Bay to Monhegan Island, off Muscongus Bay. They will share the history of the Maine Seacoast Mission and discuss their work as they address the joys and challenges of living on Maine's rugged outer islands.
This program is part of the Rockport Public Library's month long Seafaring Series. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Rockport Public Library and will be held at the Rockport Opera House
