The Collective plans Monhegan trip
Rockland — On Saturday, Sept. 15, the Farnsworth’s new membership group The Collective will take an overnight trip to Monhegan Island as part of its 2012 programming. The two-day trip, open to Collective members as well as nonmembers, is in association with the current Farnsworth exhibition “Jamie Wyeth, Rockwell Kent and Monhegan,” on display at the museum’s Wyeth Center through Dec. 30.
Art lovers will enjoy an exploration of Monhegan island which, for more than 100 years, has inspired a myriad of artists including George Bellows, James Fitzgerald, Robert Henri, Rockwell Kent and Jamie Wyeth. Led by Farnsworth preparator, artist and former island resident Leith MacDonald, participants will enjoy an afternoon of hiking and exploring followed by an evening of conversation, relaxation and fun.
Cost for this program is $150 for Collective members, $200/$345 per couple for nonmembers (includes a one-year Farnsworth membership plus Collective add-on membership). The price includes round-trip ferry transportation, tour, overnight accommodations, dinner, breakfast and gratuities. Space is extremely limited; deadline for reservations is Friday, Aug. 24. A $75 deposit is required upon reservation.
