Algorithm features Mike Whitehead on horns and Tom Luther on keyboards.

Belfast — Ambient music group Algorithm will perform in celebration of the Winter Solstice Saturday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m. at The Playhouse, 107 Church St. The concert, presented in near darkness, and feature 90 minutes of ambient music performed by Tom Luther and Mike Whitehead.

"This is a follow up to our Summer Solstice Show," said keyboardist Luther. "Our focus for this is darkness, and what lies within.”

Luther said the idea is that people will come out and spend the time listening, napping, meditating and “just being in the dark and experiencing the stillness.” There will be some chairs set up, but audience members are encouraged to bring cushions or pillows” to make themselves more comfortable and to have a less formal concert experience and totally relax."

Algorithm will be performing as a duo for this event, with Luther on synthesizers and Whitehead on processed horns. The event is free, although donations will be accepted to help offset event costs. For more information, call 338-5777.
