Tending the Perennial Garden in early August

Jul 27, 2014
Merryspring’s perennial garden in August.

Camden — Gardener Wendy Andresen will lead another installment of her Tending the Perennial Gardening series at Merryspring Nature Center Tuesday, Aug. 5, at noon.

Now that summer is getting on, many flowers will have gone past their first bloom. Andresen will teach tried-and-true methods of pruning, deadheading, and supporting plants to keep the garden vibrant for the rest of the summer. Some plants will have begun to go to seed, and attendees are encouraged to bring an envelope to collect seeds from poppies and other flowers. As always, Tracy DiSabato-Aust’s celebrated “The Well Tended Perennial Garden” will serve as the manual for this class, copies of which, among other gardening books and supplies, will be for sale after the presentation.

This presentation is part of the Summer Talk Series at Merryspring, co-sponsored by Camden National Bank and Jaret & Cohn Real-Estate. Admission to the Tuesday Talks is free to Merryspring members and children, with a $5 fee for non-members.

For more information, call Merryspring at 236-2239 or email info@merryspring.org.
