Tango brings fall to Rock City Café
Rockland — Piano/vocal duo Tango will return to Rock City Cafe, 318 Main St., Friday, Sept. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. for an evening of music from the Great American Songbook.
Pianist Martin Gottlieb and vocalist Kristen Burkholder specialize in songs from the years between 1920 and 1960, when most jazz standards, classic show tunes and torch songs were born. With warmth, understanding and style, the songs from days gone by come to life once again when Tango performs.
This show will features classic fall songs including “September in the Rain,” “Try to Remember,” “Autumn in New York” and “Autumn Leaves,” plus other songs of love — lost and won — and novelty tunes. Tango has been playing up and down the coast of Maine for seven years in concerts and fundraisers, out on the streets of Belfast during summer art walks and for weddings and private parties. Burkholder also performs with The New Vaudeville Revue in Belfast and Her Majesty's Cabaret in Bangor. For more information about the duo, visit tango-cabaret.com.
As usual there is no cover charge; however, tipping the musicians is highly encouraged. For more information on these and other events happening at the coffeebar/cafe, call 594-4123 or check out the Rock City Facebook page.
