Rockland — To add to the city’s annual Summer Solstice Celebration, Lincoln Street Center, 24 Lincoln St., will host its inaugural Art Expo Saturday and Sunday, June 21 and 22. Saturday hours will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition, there will be a one-night-only performance in the newly renovated theater by award-winning singer/songwriter and Owls Head native Paddy Mills from 7 to 10 p.m.

Food, refreshments and local wines will be available throughout the weekend. Admission to the Art Expo is free of charge both days; admission to the folk music concert is $10.

“This will be a fun, casual, easygoing way to bring our talented, hardworking arts community and the public together under one roof for a two-day event, rain or shine,” said the Center’s managing partner and rebuilder Mario Abaldo. “Local artists and makers are invited to show and sell their creations, share their processes, and have a look at what others are doing.”

All are welcome, of all ages. There will be demonstrations of everything from karate to capoeira, metal work, weaving and more. Work by Jared Martin, Ezra Wolfinger and Michael Nisperos will highlight the show. Artists include Sue Reed, Tania Amazeen-Jones, Carlene Vanderslice and Jill Caldwell, as well as Hanna Butell, Angela Pomerleau, Shirley Anderson and Roslyn Marcopoulos. Artisans and makers include Stan Silva, John Clark and Roger Casey.

The goal of the Lincoln Street Center, a couple blocks over from Main Street, is to promote the fine and performing arts, music, culture and education; and to increase these opportunities for all. For more information, call Abe Knight at 712-1314 or drop by.
