Students clean up Thomaston school grounds
Thomaston — Thomaston Grammar School fifth-graders celebrated Earth Day a few days early this year. On April 18 they took advantage of the good weather and decided to pick up trash on school grounds.
Students discussed Earth Day earlier in the week when the weekly edition of Scholastic News featured many stories connected to taking care of the Earth. The feature story was about plastic bags and how they are detrimental to the environment. This article initiated much discussion.
So, with plastic bags in hand — recycling at its best — students filled many with debris off school grounds. The kids would like to encourage everyone to do the same this coming Tuesday, April 22, Earth Day 2014.
