On Sunday September 23 the members and community friends of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Rockland will gather to honor the Reverend Glenn Mahaffey, who is taking a new rectorship in October. The celebration of his ministry in the Rockland area will begin at 9 am with a special service, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. Those who find a spiritual or community-support home in St. Peter's will gather to thank Fr. Glenn and his family for the four years of ministry and service they have brought to the community and to wish them well with their new work ahead. Both the service and the reception are open to the public and will be followed by the usual Sunday community lunch.
The Reverend Mahaffey has been an active advocate for needy individuals in Rockland, orchestrating with two other churches a wide range of services and support through community organizations and fund-raising. He and St. Peter's parishioners coordinated the highly successful Share the Love Auction in February 2012, which supported organizations that provide essential assistance to Rockland area families in these tough financial times.
Fr. Mahaffey’s new parish is in Pennsylvania.
