St. Peter’s Episcopal Church holds 161st Annual Meeting

The 161st annual meeting of the parishioner’s of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Rockland was held on January 27th. Co-Senior Wardens Thom Buescher and Tom Putnam lead the meeting that included a review of activities for 2012. Parishioners elected new members of the Vestry, the church’s governing body, and new officers. Martha Rogers of Camden and JoAnne Murphy of Rockland were elected co-senior wardens and Scott Tilton of Rockland was elected junior warden. Three new vestry members were elected: Neil MacMillan and Michael Ross of Owls Head and Kristin Cronkite of Rockport. Mary Alice Bird of Spruce Head was re-elected to fill an unexpired term. Tish Taylor and Linda Mann, both of Rockland, will continue their terms as treasurer and secretary. Outgoing vestry members David Grima of Rockland and Marilyn Smith of Owls Head were thanked for their contributions and service.

Thom Buescher also announced the hiring of an interim priest, Rev. Jim Bocchino of Providence, Rhode Island. The senior wardens have served as official church leaders since October when former priest Rev. Glenn Mahaffey moved to a parish in Pennsylvania. Rev. Bocchino will arrive and celebrate Holy Eucharist on Sunday, February 17th and will serve the parish until a new permanent priest is selected.
