SPRING IS BUSTING OUT ALL OVER!
Ah! With the first whiff of spring comes the first yard sale of the season: “The Amazing Sale” at the John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John Street, Camden, 236-4829. The doors will be open from 8 am to noon on Saturday, March 23, for customers to shop the enticing array of gently used items and home-baked goods.
This year, the organizers are featuring a selection of Beanie Babies collectables, many still in their clear plastic wrapping. A variety of personal items from the home of a church member includes crystal, glassware, silver plate, trays and serving dishes. There will be stemware, creamers and sugar bowls an all sorts of baskets, with and without handles.
As items are arriving daily for marking, Teddy Wilcox, Sharon Danforth and Grace Annis, plus others, are deciding on prices for inventory ranging from bureaus to all occasion cards, as well as lamps, puzzles, games, books and clothing. The children (and their parents and grandparents) will be eager to inspect the toys and stuffed animals, too.
The reputation of the cooks of the church as terrific bakers is well known. Buyers will find an assortment of breads, cookies, cakes and pies along with jams and other goodies.
A bag sale will conclude the 2013 sale – but look for another one in 2014.
