Spectrum Generations to host bread-making workshop

Rockland — Join Bill Babb for a mid-day workshop of sourdough bread making on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., at Spectrum Generations Knox Community Center, 61 Park St.

Participants will learn what sourdough bread is, the steps involved in making a loaf and caring for ones sourdough starter culture, as well as some recipes and tips for baking artisan loaves at home. Learn about sourdough starters and the long fermentation that are critical to making artisan sourdough bread.

Babb's workshop will consist of a demonstration and instruction followed by some hands-on work where participants will make their own dough to take home and bake later in the day. Participants will leave with course notes, a sourdough starter culture and a baked loaf to share with family. Please bring a medium-sized jar, a large mixing bowl and wooden spoon or spatula, an apron and a brown bag lunch. Beverages provided.
