South Thomaston driver charged with OUI in crash near airport
Owls Head — A 26-year-old South Thomaston man was taken to the hospital and charged with drunken driving as a result of a crash at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 13 near the Knox County Airport.
Austin C. Podziewski was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center by Rockland Emergency Medical Services for treatment of injuries resulting from a crash at Ash Point Drive and Terminal Road, according to a news release from Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison.
The vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, bearing a New Hampshire plate registered to the operator, was a total loss.
The driver was subsequently charged with operating under the influence, driving without a license, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a usable amount of marijuana. Because of injuries in the crash, he was held overnight at the hospital for observation.
A bail commissioner was notified, and responded to the emergency room; he released the driver on unsecured bail conditions pending arraignment.
