Tomm Moore & Cartoon Saloon’s “Song of the Sea” tells a tale of love and the importance of letting go.

Rockland — The Farnsworth Art Museum and Strand Theatre will present a free, family-friendly film Sunday afternoon, April 23. “Song of the Sea” (2014, Ireland/Denmark/Belgium/Luxembourg/France) will be shown at 2 p.m. at the Strand, 345 Main St.

In this beautifully hand-drawn animated Irish tale, a young boy named Ben and his little sister Saoirse, a girl who can turn into a seal, go on an adventure. Made by the creators of 2009’s “The Secret of Kells,” “Song of the Sea” received overwhelming acclaim and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at the 87th Academy Awards in 2015.

The film is recommended for those age 7 and older. It runs an hour and 34 minutes.
