Solar Rebates Bring Systems Within Reach
At ReVision Energy, we’re often asked how the solar rebate program works. Who administers it? What effort and information does it take from my end? How long until the rebate is received? How much money can I get back?
Efficiency Maine (located in Augusta) processes the rebate forms for both solar hot water and solar electric systems. There are two forms involved in the rebate process:
- The rebate reservation form: this gives Efficiency Maine your name, address and details about your solar project(s). After Efficiency Maine receives this form, they set aside a rebate reservation(s) in your name. The value of the rebates is up to $2,000 for solar hot water systems and up to $2,000 for grid-tied solar electric systems. The rebate amount(s) is dependent on the size of your project(s).
- After your solar energy system is installed, ReVision helps you file a rebate claim form. This is to confirm with Efficiency Maine that your system has been installed as quoted and to your satisfaction.
- Within 4-6 weeks, a rebate check addressed to you arrives in your mailbox.
In addition to the above rebates, a 30% federal tax credit is also available through 2016.
