Solar Incentives for 2013

By ReVision Energy | Dec 14, 2012

Interested in solar energy? With two current financial incentives available to home and business owners, an investment in solar can be within reach. But will they be around in 2016?

Currently there are two incentives available to homeowners and businesses in Maine:

- Through Efficiency Maine's renewable rebate program, residential applicants can receive a rebate up to $2,000 for solar hot water systems and a rebate up to $2,000 for solar electric systems (grid-tied only). Businesses can cash in on rebates up to $4,000 for both solar hot water and solar electric systems (up to $8,000 in all).

- A 30% federal tax credit is available for both residential and commercial installation - this tax credit can be taken for both labor and material costs.

So how long will these incentives stick around? Currently, the 30% federal tax credit is on the books through 2016, and the rebate funding from Efficiency Maine is projected to be available for some of 2013.
