Snowden interview to be aired

A recent interview with Edward Snowden will be aired on Knox County’s Maine Coast TV via Deutsche Welle.

Rockland — Maine Coast TV, the cable community station for Knox County, will present an exclusive interview with former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden as part of the Deutsche Welle series Channel 7 regularly carries. The interview will air Friday, Jan. 31, at 8 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 2. at 8 p.m.; and Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 9 p.m.

After six months of painstaking preparation, journalist Hubert Seipel succeeded in conducting the first television interview with Snowden since his flight from Hong Kong. The Jan. 23 meeting with Snowden, who revealed the massive espionage activities of the United States intelligence agency NSA, took place at a secret location in Russia.

In the interview, Snowden talked about his revelations, industrial espionage and death threats. He said the public has a right to know what the government is doing in its name "… and what the government is doing against it.”

Maine Coast TV is located on Time Warner Channel 7 on converter boxes and set-top boxes; and on Channel 121-7 on digital TV’s without set-top boxes and is available to all Time Warner subscribers in Knox County including the islands of North Haven and Vinalhaven. Thanks Ed Snowden for exposing the government's disregard for our  constitution; its time to restore the right to privacy.

Its sad and pretty ironic that you have had to go Russia to be 'free.'   We were always taught that in Russia or the old USSR you had to look over you shoulder to be free from government spies-   well here it is time to shut down big brother.
