Smith opens annual show at Lord Camden Inn
Camden — New paintings by local artist Marianne W. Smith will go on exhibit at Lord Camden Inn, 24 Main St./Route 1, beginning with an artist reception Tuesday, Aug. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. The gallery at the downtown inn is open every day, and Smith’s work will be on display through the fall season.
These new works include an extensive collection of original oil paintings featuring scenes from working Maine harbors, coastal Maine landscapes, portraits and still life paintings. Smith works in her Camden studio on still life paintings ,as well as painting plein air coastal scenes.
Smith’s traditional still life paintings embrace a classical master’s technique with contrasting values and color temperatures with a strong sense of reflective light. Her new works show an evolution in style to a freer and livelier brush stroke. In other works, she strives to create paintings that show a sense of tranquility, serenity and a simpler way of life.
The public is invited to enjoy refreshments and view the past year’s work during the opening reception. The preview this work and view past paintings, visit mwsmithgallery.com.
