Small Changes Can Make a BIG Difference!

By Hope Health Family Practice | Mar 12, 2013

To add one pound of weight, you must consume 3500 calories.  So, with 365 days in a year, if you ate an extra, unused 100 calories each day for a year, you would have consumed 36,500 additional calories which would add about ten extra pounds to your body weight.    Burning an extra 100 calories a day would help you shed about ten pounds in one year.   If your goal is weight loss and living healthier, look at your diet and activity level.  Small changes can make a big difference.

Examples of 100 calories consumed:

Those cute little 100 calorie snack bags of cookies and crackers.

One 5 oz  glass of white wine

One chocolate chip cookie

Examples of 100 calories burned:

30 minute moderate walk with a dog

15 minute leisurely swim

20 minute leisurely bike ride
