Shy Ann comes alive outside walls of shelter
Our pet pick of the week is Shy Ann, a 3-year-old Pitbull mix. Shy Ann is such a smart and loving girl. She just wants to be someone’s best friend. Although anniversaries are usually something to celebrate, Shy Ann's one-year stay at the shelter is not cause for celebration. We would really like to see her get a home as soon as possible. Shy Ann knows basic commands, is house broken and enjoys riding in the car. She is selective with the dogs she likes to play with. She seems to prefer males like her current shelter buddy Walston. A bit stressed in the shelter, you can see her relax and come alive as she takes a walk away from the stresses of the shelter. She will be a wonderful, loyal companion. We look forward to celebrating when she gets a home.
Shy Ann, like many of the animals at the shelter, came in as a stray with no collar and identification, or microchip with vital information to contact her family to let them know she was safe and waiting. Nationally, only 22 percent of lost dogs and a dismal 2 percent of lost cats that enter animal shelters are reunited with their owners. Shelters everywhere, including ours, are full with wonderful stray animals that we cannot reunite with their families. We want to change that. Don't let your pet be part of that statistic.
