Shirley A. Colson
Thomaston — Shirley A, (Simmons) Colson, 55, born July 30, 1957 died peacefully Oct. 27, 2012 at Maine Medical Center in Portland of many health complications.
Shirley lived in Maine her whole life. Born in Friendship, went to local schools and graduated from Medomak Valley High School in 1975.
She was predeceased by her parents Irvin D Simmons Jr. and Frances Simmons and Brother Ronald Simmons. Shirley is survived by her partner Andy Sargent, her only daughter Melissa Lima and her husband Jason Lima of Derry, N.H. and their two children Andrea and Kacey, her sister Sally Wile and her husband Bill Wile Sr. of Waldoboro, her nieces and nephews Bill Wile Jr. and his companion Tammy MacIntire of Waldoboro, Crystal Earnest and her husband David Earnest of Waldoboro, and Robin Wile of Waldoboro and her great nieces and nephew, Chelsea, Shelbe, Anya, Dennis, and Elaine. She would also have not made it through her life without her best friend Coral Brown; they did everything together and where one of them was the other one was sure to be found.
Shirley loved her family very much and was proud of every single one of them. She was always helping people when they needed it. She loved bingo, search-a-word, piecing together puzzles and watching old westerns. Shirley also had a love of cats. When Shirley had not much of an opinion toward something she would often be heard saying “I don’t give a damn.” She could always manage to bring a smile to anyone’s face on the darkest of days. She had a huge heart. Shirley worked for Chikadee Laundry and Log Cabin in her years of life.
The family would like to extend a huge thank you to the friendly, caring staff that has helped Shirley for the past 12 years at Lucettes in Thomaston.
A celebration of life will be held for Shirley on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall, Route 90, Warren.
