Camden — Petey the P.A.W.S. Puppy was getting the word out Friday, Sept. 20, about the animal shelter’s fundraiser, called Shop for the Cause.

According the organization’s website, 55 businesses in Camden and Rockport will donate a portion of their sales Saturday, Sept. 21, to P.A.W.S. The event is intended to help merchants generate more business during fall as well as to benefit the animal shelter. Fund raised will support shelter operations.

Shoppers can also win a prize. Those who visit the P.A.W.S. booth on Camden’s Village Green, obtain a card and get it stamped by at least six participating merchants will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate from the participating business of their choice.

Some of the participating merchants are: Lead sponsor Camden Riverhouse Inn, Admiral’s Buttons, Bagel Café, Bubbles and Bean Children’s Consignment, Graffam Brothers’ Seafood Market, Green Thumb, Lily Lupine & Fern, Loyal Biscuit Co., Margo Moore Interiors, Planet Toys, River Ducks Ice Cream, The Maine Dog and The Well-Tempered Kitchen.
