St. Peter’s Celebrates Rockland With Lessons and Carols Service

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will celebrate the Rockland community with a free service of Lessons and Carols on December 22nd at 2:00 p.m. In this Anglican tradition of worship, we honor those who bring a message of hope, peace, and service to the common good of all people.

Lessons and Carols is wonderful service of 9 Scripture lessons and 9 carols performed by the audience and the choir. In honor of their community service contributions, we have invited some distinguished guests from the community to deliver the readings… Elizabeth Dickerson, Maine House Representative, District 47, representing Rockland and a portion of Owls Head, Larry Pritchett, Mayor of Rockland, Carol Bachofner, Poet Laureate of Rockland, Joyce Burnham, chair of Rockland Area Interfaith Organization (AIO) Food Pantry, Officer William Smith, police officer, Rockland Police Department, Eric Frederick, Chief Operating Officer, Pen Bay Healthcare System.

The 20-person choir at St. Peter’s will perform pieces by Joseph Haydn, John Rutter and Boris Ord. We also look forward to raising our voices with you on some familiar carols like “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” and “While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks.”

A reception provided by the ECW (Episcopal Church Women) will follow the service in the church hall. Donations will be accepted to support the continuing work of local organizations that serve those in need in our community.

We hope that you will come and celebrate a message of hope, peace and goodwill toward all.

St. Peter’s is the red-shingled church at 11 White St. next to the Rockland Public Library. For additional information contact the church office at 594-8191.
