September scenes in adult art workshops
Rockland — Catinka Knoth will teach drawing scenes of September in Maine, with a focus on buildings, Mondays, Sept. 10 through 24, at 11 a.m. in the Friends Community Room of Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St. Knoth offers the workshops free and open to the general public, materials supplied; the series is hosted by Friends of Rockland Public Library.
Led by Knoth, participants will make their own barn, schoolhouse and farmhouse drawings, in color, of iconic local buildings. They will work with simple aspects of perspective theory and practice the technique of coloring in without using outlines. Familiar buildings from St. George and South Thomaston along the St. George peninsula's Route 131 will be the subjects for the classes, each week a different subject.
Knoth paints watercolors of Maine and whimsical animal scenes, which she offers as cards and prints. She also teaches a free weekly children's drawing class at Rockland Public Library, sponsored by Wendy and Keith Wellin. For more information about her work, visit catinkacards.com.
