Thomaston — The following is a synopsis of the 2014 Oceanside High School boys soccer team:

Coach/years coached current team: Josh Mahar, 13th year.

Last year's record/playoff information: 9-3-2, No. 6 seed in Eastern Class B. The Mariners were upset by No. 11 Foxcroft Academy of Dover-Foxcroft 2-1 in the preliminary playoffs.

Roster: Seniors Phillip Atwood, Nick Barrett, Travis Frye, Stephen Goodridge, Ronald Hall, Brian Haskell, Caleb Jacob, Zach Peaco, Nate Philbrook, Walker Ranney, Justin Robinson, Kaleb Robinson, Zac Roman, Jimmy Strong and Eli Thorbjornson; juniors Andrew King, Josh Luttrell, Rory Polyblank and Christian Straka; and sophomore Coby Dorr.

Known graduation losses: Nick Judge and John Ferguson.

Significant impact players: “Any given team may have two or three players that are better than ours, but our lineup 1 through 11 will be as good as any,” said Mahar.

Team strengths: Experience and senior leadership.

Team goals: To improve on the team's performance in last year's Eastern Class B playoffs.

Top league opponent: Camden Hills of Rockport.

Outlook: Oceanside, an experienced bunch that lost only two starters from last year's squad, could be a dark horse to make a deep run in the regional tournament.
