Seafood with a twist at Hill's
Rockland — There is a new seafood place in town. Hill's Seafood Co. opened June 24 in the former Brick's location on Main Street in Rockland.
Jeff and Samantha Hill bought the establishment and remodeled the interior, while leaving the front patio for outside dining.
The couple was in Boston earlier in the year and opened a fortune cookie that read "something like you will have many good things happen to you this year," said Samantha.
"We finally had the opportunity to open up our own restaurant," said Jeff.
Jeff has a long history in culinary arts, and has worked both sides serving families as well as working for corporations. He worked for Ruby Tuesday's as well as Bugaboo Creek.
Samantha was recently appointed vice president, business relationship officer at The First in the Rockland. She is responsible for the nautical themed interior decorations at the restaurant.
"We wanted to keep it simple," said Jeff, adding "with reasonably priced fare." He said his classic Midcoast recipes are fairly easy, but he does add a twist to a couple dishes. The calamari is jazzed up with a garlic sauce and banana peppers, the salmon is pan-seared in a sweet bourbon marinade, and the haddock reuben is prepared with coleslaw, swiss and tartar sauce.
Hill's Seafood is open 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, with a happy hour from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The restaurant offers take-out as well.
