Sea Dog pitcher MacDonald to start July 17 at Hadlock FieldCamden native comes off disabled list, takes the hill
Portland — Camden native Mike MacDonald is poised to make his home debut with the Portland Sea Dogs.
The right-handed pitcher has been activated off the disabled list Tuesday, July 17 and will start on the mound for that night's game for the Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field against Reading, the Double-AA affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The game begins at 7 p.m.
MacDonald has started one game thus far this summer for the Sea Dogs on July 8 at Trenton and was pulled after two-thirds of an inning due to a groin injury, which earned him a stint on the seven-day disabled list July 8.
MacDonald officially was eligible to come off the DL July 16 and it appears he will be activated this afternoon in time to start tonight's game.
MacDonald is a 2000 graduate of Camden-Rockport High School and the first Maine-born player to don a Sea Dogs' uniform.
Tickets for tonight's game are available, according to the Portland Sea Dogs' ticket office. Ticket prices range from $4 to $8 for children and $7 to $9 for adults.
The Sea Dogs fell to the Phillies 11-4 July 16. The series concludes on Wednesday, July 18. The Sea Dogs are the Double-AA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
