Schenk of South Thomaston resigns seat on school board
Rockland — Eric Schenk of South Thomaston resigned from the Regional School Unit 13 board Friday, July 6, for personal reasons, according to Chairwoman Esther “Tess” Kilgour.
Kilgour said she accepted his resignation with regret, “as he was a valued member of our board team.”
Schenk, a physician, was elected to the board in 2011. A replacement for the remainder of his term to March 2014 will have to be named by the South Thomaston Selectmen, said Kilgour.
Schenk said Tuesday, "Personal reasons made me ineffective on the board.
"Because of some of the things that happened over the last eight months, I was not able to represent South Thomaston as well as I should have," he said.
He did not touch on the alleged lack of harmony on the board over its inability to select a new superintendent, except to say that he was "very sad" to be leaving.
"I'm not angry with anybody, and I wish the board well," he said.
