Rockport — Darlene Joy was born in Rockland and is a native of Owls Head. She started her career at the Samoset Resort on April 18, 1975, the same day as her sister’s birthday.

She has been a member of the Housekeeping Department for the past 37 years. Darlene is the glue that holds the department together and can be found greeting the guests and co-workers each and every day, according to a news release from the Samoset Resort.

Her fondest memories have been watching the property become remodeled and the lobby stairs moved back to where they originally were when the resort was built in 1974. Darlene has worked and attended every Fishermena' Forum at the Samoset and loves seeing all the familiar faces when it returns each year.

Darlene was recognized by the Fishermen’s Forum with a plaque for her hard work and dedication.
