Saltwater screens ‘Idiocracy’

Feb 01, 2013
The future is fearfully dim in “Idiocracy.”

Thomaston — Saltwater Film Society will screen the 2006 film “Idiocracy” Thursday, Feb. 7, at 6:30 p.m., hosted by Thomaston Public Library in Room 200 of the Thomaston Academy building, Main Street/Route 1.

“Idiocracy” tells the fictional tale of Pvt. Joe Bowers, a soldier chosen to take part in a secret military experiment in which he will be put into induced hibernation for a year. Bowers is chosen because he is statistically the most average man in the army … and he is forgotten mid-experiment when the military base closes. When he wakes up in 2505, national intelligence has taken such a nosedive that Bowers turns out to be the smartest man in the world.
