Lincolnville — Local residents Gia Yannekis and Jens Ostergaard will give a free illustrated presentation on their sailing trip from Maine to Greenland Wednesday, April 2, at 7 p.m. at the Lincolnville Community Library.

In 1996 Yannekis and Ostergaard left Kittery in their North Sea trawler/motor sailor Little Bear and sailed along the Maine Coast and through the Maritimes to Labrador before crossing over to Greenland. The couple spent four years living, working, teaching and sailing on the country’s west coast before traveling back to Maine in 2000.

Ostergaard is an electronics engineer and a wooden boatbuilder. Originally from Denmark, he has worked in Greenland on and off since the 1970s. Yannekis, who is originally from New Hampshire, works for the state as a public health administrator and has spent time on the Maine Coast all of her life. The couple lived on Little Bear for 16 years before moving into their home in Lincolnville in 2010.

The presentation will include Inuit art, music and slides. The library is located at 208 Main St. in Lincolnville Center. For more information, call 763-4343.
