RSU 40 course on garden design, planting

Waldoboro — Sharon Turner will lead a course in garden design and planting, beginning Monday, Feb. 10 as part of Regional School Unit 40 adult education offerings.

Annual planning and preparation are essential to the creation of productive, efficient and beautiful vegetable gardens. The instructor will address the topics of garden design, plant varieties, seed starting, mulching, composting and fertilizing. Organic and “low till” practices and the inclusion of plants attractive to birds, bees, butterflies and other beneficials will be emphasized.

Class meets Mondays, Feb. 10 and 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Medomak Valley High School, Room 1.
