RSU 13 schools welcome volunteers

Regional School Unit 13 schools welcome volunteers, as volunteers play an important role in the educational process. Volunteers can support instruction in academic areas such as reading or math. They also can do at-home projects, organize a fundraiser, or be a member of our family/school association groups.

The schools also welcome volunteers to spend time reading with early learners. Mary Dyer, a foster grandparent volunteer, is working with a student on a writing project. Jeannette Chapman, of Cushing, is working with a student while she practices oral reading.

Volunteers can bring their area of interest or expertise to enhance the curriculum. This can be a way to expose students to practical life experiences and how learning can connect to real life experiences. Community members and parents can volunteer in the schools, in a variety of ways to support learning.

If interested in a volunteer opportunity, contact local schools for more details.
