Rosie looking for high-energy family

Rosie

Our pet pick of the week is Rosie a very active, 2-year-old Labrador Retriever/Husky mix. No couch potatoes for this beauty. She needs an active family. Rosie loves to romp and play. And, after plenty of exercise, she'll curl up next to you on the couch and cuddle. Rosie gets along with most dogs and would be fine around older children. Her exuberance may be too much for smaller children. A fenced-in yard would be high on her wish list along with someone to play fetch with.

We have two fun fundraising events coming up soon. First, join us for dinner on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Graffam Bros. Harborside Restaurant in Camden. PMHSKC has been chosen as the first participant in their 2014 Community Connections program. Simply by eating dinner at Harborside Restaurant on this special night, we will receive up to 50 percent of that night's receipts to support homeless animals in the Midcoast area. It's a win/win.

Save the Date: We have another exciting event scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 6 at the Strand Theatre. Join us for a very special evening with David Rosenfelt author of “Dogtripping” as he shares his adventures of traveling from California to Maine with his 25 rescue dogs in 3 RV’s. Normally a mystery writer, Rosenfelt veered off to highlight this unusual and often humorous trip. David is a long-time supporter of animal shelters around the country, and he welcomes the chance to share his adventures to benefit PMHSKC. WCSH Channel 6′s Don Carrigan will MC the event. VIP tickets include: a hardcover, autographed copy of David’s book," Dogtripping: 25 Rescues, 11 Volunteers, and 3 RVs on Our Canine Cross-Country Adventure"; an appetizer reception at 5:30 p.m.; and reserved seats to David’s appearance — all for only $40.

General admission tickets available for $10 and doors open at 6:45 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit, call or go online to the Strand Theatre box office.

Wish list. Gift cards to Wal-Mart and Staples, stamps, canned cat food, sidewalk salt, laundry detergent, large garbage bags, snow blower.
