Chicken feces detours rush-hour traffic

West Rockport — A chicken manure spill just after 8 a.m. on Route 17 near the Route 90 intersection detoured southbound traffic June 30. The fire department remained at the scene until about 9:45 a.m.until the road was reopened to traffic.

According to Rockport Fire Department, the chicken manure was up to 2-inches deep in places. The spill happened in front of Rollins & Sons Auto Body Shop. The department posted on its Facebook page it took a town loader and about 5,000 gallons of water to clean up the smelly mess.
