Rockland's Solstice a soaker
Rockland — Despite an ominous weather report, hundreds of people turned out for the annual Rockland Summer Solstice Celebration June 23, filling the closed-to-traffic Main Street to capacity. They took in children's games, live music and dance and festive food treats, even when a light but insistent mist began to descend. Finally, the skies opened up and everyone ran for cover while close to an inch of rain poured down. Afterward, the musicians and most of the food vendors called it a night, but the community still strolled, making the most of the longest Saturday night of the year.
