Rockland sets spring cleanup schedule
Rockland — Residents who want to get rid of the leaves and brush accumulated since last fall should get out their rakes.
The city will begin its annual spring leaf and brush pickup starting May 1.
The city has divided Rockland into four zones and will spend a week in each of them.
Pick-up times will be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily for each designated zone.
"We are only picking up roadside piles of leaves and separate brush piles consisting of tree limbs and branches. Keeping the leaf piles and brush piles separate helps us to properly recycle the two items and makes the process more efficient. Leaf piles may be covered with a tarp to prevent them from blowing around, but please do not bag them," the city states in its news release.
"Please place leaf and separate brush piles along the sidewalk or at the edge of your property with the brush arranged the same way as the sidewalk or road," the notice states.
The city reminds people not to block the sidewalk.
The week of May 1 through May 4 will focus on Park Street south to the Owls Head town line. The following week will be from Park to Rankin Street, week three will be north of Rankin to the Rockport town line, and the final week (May 22-26) will be west of Old County Road.
