Rockland Main Street, Inc. to host volunteers

Rockland — Rockland Main Street, Inc. will host an informal volunteer appreciation and recruitment reception at the Waterworks Restaurant Wednesday, May 7, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The event is being staged to thank those volunteers who were involved with committees, programs and projects in 2013, and to encourage new participation by those who live, work and play in Rockland.

The reception will feature an overview of the upcoming year and how an individual, family, or business can become involved. Rockland Main Street, Inc. organizers and board members will be present. Light hors d’oeuvres and soft drinks will be served, and a cash bar will be available.

In addition to its commitment to historic preservation of, and economic development in the downtown district, Rockland Main Street, Inc. is also responsible for producing the annual Summer Solstice Celebration; the Festival of Lights Parade and Lobster Trap Christmas Tree; the Rockland Has Talent variety show; and the very special So You Think You Know Rockland competition.

The Rockland Has Style fashion show will be combined this year with the annual Silent Auction, and will be held at the Samoset Resort.

Rockland Main Street, Inc. is a focused partnership of residents, businesses and local government that enhances and protects the unique sense of place and economic vitality of downtown Rockland, Maine.
