Rockland — Each year the Elks National Foundation helps Elks build strong communities by investing in the communities where Elks live and work. Local Elks Lodges that meet the National President’s per-member goal for giving to the ENF are eligible to receive an ENF Gratitude Grant to serve the needs of their communities.

During the Rockland Elks Lodge’s Super Bowl Pre-Party on Feb. 3, Lodge President Tom Wenckus distributed the 2012-2013 ENF’s $2,000 Gratitude Grant to five local food pantries, adding an additional $400 from the Board of Governors of the Lodge which was given to a sixth food pantry, for a total of $2,400. This is in keeping with the “Elks Care and Elks Share” motto.

The selected six Midcoast food pantries to receive $400 checks include: Thomaston Interchurch Fellowship Food Pantry (Jim Smith), Waldoboro Food Pantry (Louis Cook), Friendship-Cushing Food Pantry (Richard Moody), Come Spring Food Pantry, Union (Carol Watier), Camden Area  Christian Food Pantry (Jane Bennett), and Warren food pantry (Pastor Linwood Welch).
