Rock the Coast costume dance in Camden
Camden — High Mountain Hall, 5 Mountain St./Route 52, will host the first concert in a new Rock the Coast series Friday night, Oct. 25. Portland-based band Sly-Chi will kick off the series, which is aimed at celebrating local musicians while supporting the local community, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
Each concert will raise money to support the Maine Academy of Modern Music, a small nonprofit organization whose mission is to operate and support an independent music school focused on rock and contemporary music. MAMM is dedicated to creating positive life experiences for Maine students of all ages and abilities through innovative and inclusive music programs.
Rock the Coast was developed by Anna Sideris, manager of High Mountain Hall, and Adrienne Horty, owner of The Refinery, LLC, an events and marketing firm. Together, they hope to bring more live music to the area and benefit the local community in doing so. Each concert will feature a local musician or band from Maine and will highlight different themes that will provide direction for drinks, décor and goodies.
“There are so many talented musicians in Maine, and we hope that by adding to the Midcoast area’s musical scenery, we will be able to bring more business to the community and in turn benefit a great non-profit organization,” said Horty.
“We’ve already been able to garner a lot of local support for this first concert, and we want to thank all of the sponsors who were excited to get involved with us,” said Sideris, adding that this first show would not have come together without the support of Co-Presenting Sponsor Camden Real Estate Company and other supporters.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Zoot Coffee or at the door. This first concert is celebrating Halloween and guests are encouraged to dress in costume. There will be a full cash bar along with a raffle; 100 percent of all raffle proceeds will go directly to MAMM.
