Rock Coast Rollers double their fun in opening matchesSeason full of fun, battles, mayhem begins at Midcoast Recreation Center
Rockport — The Rock Coast Rollers returned to their home turf — namely, the Midcoast Recreation Center — on Saturday night, May 31 for double the fun.
The women's flat track roller derby organization hosted The Nautical Knockdown, a doubleheader that featured RCR’s The Perfect Storm against Casco Bay Gentlemen's Derby — a battle of the sexes, if you will — and RCR’s Breakwater Blackhearts against the Bay State Brawlers.
The bout scores were: The Perfect Storm beat Casco Bay Gentlemen Derby 127-103 and Bay State Brawlers beat Breakwater Blackhearts 553-84.
A portion of the proceeds from the bout went to the Darling Marine Center at the University of Maine.
Th Rollers will host the Paint the Floor (with Sweat and More) on Saturday, June 15 at 6 p.m. at the MRC. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.
There is no rest for the weary. Only two weeks after hosting their opening home bout for the season, the Rollers will be at it again. This time, RCR's The Perfect Storm will go up against Connecticut's RollerGirls' Yankee Brutals.
Tickets are available online at paintthefloor.brownpapertickets.com or at the following local vendors: Good Tern Co-op, Belfast Co-op and Clean Bee Laundry.
The halftime show will be a skater-powered alternative print-making extravaganza.
A portion of the proceeds from the bout will go to support Sweet Tree Arts.
The after-party will be at Trackside Station Restuarant in Rockland, with music by D.J. V.J.
