Robert Richard Hall, Sr.
Camden — Robert “Bob” R. Hall, Sr., 79, husband of the late June Hall from Islesboro, died peacefully in his sleep July 29, 2010, at Quarry Hill in Camden.
He was born April 13, 1931 in Belfast, son of Jeff and Marjorie Hall. Robert went to school in Belfast and went into the Merchant Marines when he was a mere 16 years of age. He spent most of his life working for himself and family. When he was 31 years old he had a severe accident, in which he lost a limb, but he was strong and lived a long-full life.
He had a passion for wood work, which included building wooden boats. His friends and family describe him as a strong-caring man.
Bob is survived by his brothers, Maynard Hall of Islesboro, Jimmy Hall of Old Orchard Beach, Claude “Corky” Hall of Islesboro, and Terry Hall of Stockton Springs; sisters Beverly Penney of Knox, Janice Kinney of North Dakota and Sherry Pooler of New Hampshire. Bob is also survived by daughters, Dianne Hall of Searsport, Kathy Nickerson of Swanville, and Goldie Hall of Stockton Springs. He was predeceased by a son, Robert “Bobby” Richard Hall, Jr., who passed away in the spring of 1991.
He had several step-children: Theresa Gomez, Arlene Sweetland, Sharon Penney, Philip Walsh, Paul Walsh, Lee Walsh, AJ Walsh, and Judy Houle.; grandchildren Donald Westover of Hope, Adam Reynolds of Searsport, Jennifer Hersom of Swanville, Jeff Nickerson of Knox, Kevin Nickerson of Cumberland, Samantha Smith of Winterport, and Victoria Jordan of Belfast. He had several step-grandchildren including Cliff and Laura Houle of Islesboro. He had several great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, Ailyn Westover of Germany, who he was lucky enough to meet this summer. He also had many friends at Quarry Hill, and elsewhere, who will miss him dearly. A graveside service will be held on Aug. 28, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Greenwood Cemetary, Church Turn Rd, Islesboro, ME.
