We are very pleased to have a drama program in place this year. Along came Aynne Ames of the Belfast Maskers, the perfectly suited candidate!! Aynne has been the Artistic Director of the Maskers since 2004.

Aynne brings with her years of experience working with the youth of our community and beyond.

She has built an exiting and adventurous syllabus for the course, which will be available to home schooled families as well. Tentatively the course will be offered Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12:30-2.

Please call 207-338-0100 or 207-525-3519 for more information on fees.

Course Description : DRAMA

This semester course will have the goal of introducing the students to all elements of theater. Depending on the students knowledge and level of interest we will focus more on one area than another but all areas, texts, acting, lighting, sound, special effects, props, makeup, costumes, dancing, singing, set, light and costume design, will be covered. Rather than having a half hour lecture on costumes, or makeup, we will hold general discussions and information on the history of theater and the elements mentioned above will grow organically from those discussions.
Following much discussion, as a group, we will decide how we wish to proceed with a performance (s). All of the written and practical material will come from the group. After developing the project and rehearsing same, we will decide when, where and how many performances to hold. Not only is it important to teach the students new whys of creating theater but also to include their current talents into theater.
The instructor will include several guest instructors from the outside, be they in dance, voice, set building, costume design or any other theatrical area. This will benefit the student by exposing him/her to additional theater techniques.
As this is a credit course, the students will be evaluated using self evaluation, group evaluation and teacher evaluation and those combined grades will account for the final grade.
This course is designed for two one and one half hour classes, twice a week.
