Research in Indonesia talk March 24
Rockport — Shortly after receiving a doctorate in experimental social psychology, Laura Babbitt moved from studying the behavior of college students in closely controlled laboratory experiments to mapping out the obstacles to fair treatment for women in the workforce in Indonesia.
She will discuss her trips to East Java and North Sumatra in the course of developing and carrying out this project, including the unique challenges of conducting research abroad and the sometimes surprising results during a talk Monday, March 24, at 7 p.m. at Rockport Opera House.
Dr. Babbitt is a graduate of Camden-Rockport High School and Wellesley College, and received her PhD from Tufts University in 2012. She is currently working with the International Labor Organization to measure and improve working conditions in garment and footwear factories, and lives in Boston with her husband.
