'Remember the Night' a holiday treat
Thomaston — Friends of the Thomaston Public Library presents its Friday Night Film Series with screenings weekly at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of Thomaston Public Library in the Thomaston Academy Building, 60 Main St./Route 1. December’s theme is Holiday Treats.
Up next in the series, on Dec. 13, is "Remember the Night," a 94-minute film from 1940. This breezy mix of comedy, drama and romance stars Barbara Stanwyck as a woman picked up in New York for shoplifting right before Christmas. No-nonsense D.A. Fred MacMurray agrees to have Stanwyck released in his custody so they can go to his family home in Indiana for the holidays, and love blooms along the way. The movie also features Beulah Bondi and Willard Robertson and was scripted by cinema master Preston Sturges.
The series will continue with “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946, USA), Dec. 20; and “Holiday” (1938, USA), Dec. 27. Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. Popcorn and drinks will be served. The Thomaston Academy building is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance. For more information, call the library at 354-2453.
