Belfast.  A Workshop for those who teach and counsel children and families, titled “Reclaiming Civility” will be offered at the UMaine Hutchinson Center on Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm

Program includes: Linda Bowe Principal Searsport Elementary School and Ezra Kreamer, Counselor Ironwood Lic Me Corp who will share their insights and strategies for reclaiming the practice of civility.

For some people Civility may mean having good manners, for others it reflects the skills needed to participate in public life, and authorities in the field of teaching civility often define it as set of relational behaviors for getting along with others. We will consider ways in which we might reclaim the positive benefits of civility to enhance school climate and to help students gain some essential skills. Acknowledging the many demands of the school day, we will share ideas on infusing civility into existing practices.

For the registration form for this workshop contact Nancy Boyington at the Hutchinson Center at 338-8002 (toll free 800-753-9044) or nancyb@maine.edu.
